The one and only ODB-11/14/04

Well I was informed on Sunday morning via phone of a celebrity death by fellow CITW member Jason. He said he had some bad news….a celebrity death. I was hoping it was the death of Carrot Top's career, but I can't get that lucky, I was informed it was Wu Tang Clan member Ol’ Dirty Bastard. A little background here for some of the lines in the song. There was a time on MTV news where ODB got a welfare check, after having a record contract and making money off selling records, he still got a check. The geniuses at MTV news followed him to a place to get the food stamps as he was driven to the check cashing place… a limo. The Sweet Baby Jesus line comes from the many names that ODB has coined for himself over the past few years, Dirt McGirt, Big Baby Jesus or his legal name, Russell Jones. One thing to look forward to is I’m sure there will be another 4 albums post death of ODB material much like there has been for Tupac and Biggie.

Goodbye ODB
Bet Ghostface Killa knew you well
You had the lyrics on the mic
Wu Tang members sure would tell
You crawled out of New York City
With a welfare check in your hand
Drove to cash it
In a limo and chauffer at hand

And it seemed to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
I’m sure you’ll have four more albums
Like Tupac and Biggie did
And I would have like to know you
But I’m a white suburban kid
Your candle burned out long before
Sweet Baby Jesus name ever did.
