George Mikan-80 NBA stud

George Mikan died today he was the first great player in NBA history really. I actually found some stuff about him today. He was born in Joliet, didn't play basketball in high school, and the NCAA had to change the goal tending rule because of him. I'll always remember those cool specs he wore, Mikan was like MJ before there was an MJ. So lets put on our Army issue eyeglasses for the vigil tonight and throw up a hook shot for Big George Mikan

Goodbye George Mikan
The NBA knew you pretty well
You dominated the middle of the lane
All the other player sure would tell
You came out of DePaul
With thick glasses to your name
Became a basketball legend
Goaltending rules changed the game

And it seemed to me that you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing you win five titles
Within your first six years
And I would have liked to know you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your hook shot ever did
